Chinese billionaire and Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma said on Saturday he will donate emergency supplies to Asian countries including Afghanistan amid coronavirus pandemic.
Ma’s initiative, a collaboration between his private charity and Alibaba Foundation, had recently donated relief materials to areas in Japan, Korea, Italy, Iran and Spain.
It has also donated testing kits and masks to the United States.
“Go Asia! We will donate emergency supplies (1.8M masks, 210K test kits, 36K protective suits, plus ventilators & thermometers) to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan & Sri Lanka. Delivering fast is not easy, but we’ll get it done!,” Ma tweeted.
China’s ambassador Wang Yu said that the supplies will come to Afghanistan soon.
Afghanistan has confirmed 24 cases of coronavirus.
