Afghan police on Monday confirmed that Pakistani Saifullah Mehsud has been killed Afghanistan’s eastern Khost province.
Some reports identified Mehsud as a key commander of Pakistani Taliban known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
However, Khost police spokesman Adil Haider rejected the reports, saying Mehsud was a leader of refuees from Wazirstan and had no links with TTP.
He said that Mehsud was killed because of a personal fued and it happened on Saturday night.
Earlier, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency citing an identified Taliban spokesman said that Mehsud had been shot dead by Haqqani network.
It said that Mehsud was spokesman for a faction of TTP.
