An Afghan provincial police chief was shot dead in capital Kabul on Thursday, officials confirmed.
Sharifullah Chamto, police chief of western Badghis province, was killed in Police District 5 of the city around 12:45p.m., Interior Ministry’s spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said.
Chamto was in to spend his vacation, Rahimi said.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it killed also his guard.
