An explosion went off near President Ashraf Ghani’s campaign gathering in Afghanistan’s central Parwan province on Tuesday.
At least 24 people were killed while 31 others were wounded in the blast, said Abdul Qasim Sangin, chief physician of Parwan hospital.
Women and children were among casualties. Five security forces were among those killed, he said.
The blast was caused by a suicide attacker on motorcycle, said Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Interior Ministry.
He said that the event continued despite the attack.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
