Taliban militants killed eight guards of Mes Aynak copper mine in central Logar province last night, the ministry of mines and petroleum said on Wednesday.
The incident was reported by Qadeer Mutfi, a spokesman for the ministry of mines and petroleum.
Taliban has yet to make comment on the on the incident.
This comes as the Taliban has vowed to protect national infrastructure projects.
Mes Aynak copper mine, being developed by a Chinese consortium, remains at a standstill.
