More than 5,000 kilograms of explosives have been discovered and seized in a raid in Afghanistan’s northern Samangan province, the country’s intelligence agency said on Saturday.
The explosives were discovered in a truck, which Taliban militants were transporting from Balkh’s Charbolak district to Samangan’s Feroz Nakhchar district, the National Directorate of Security said in a statement.
Militants wanted to use the explosives in roadside bombings, car bombings and suicide vests in Samangan, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces, the statement said.
The explosives were discovered in Dashte Alasha area of Hazrat Sultan district of Samangan.
One person was arrested in connection with the case.
