Thirteen Afghan soldiers were killed after militants attacked an army base in Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province last night, sources said Wednesday.
Five others were wounded in the attack on the base in Imam Sahib district, according to sources.
Fawad Aman, deputy spokesman for defense ministry, confirmed death of one soldier and wounding of four others in the attack.
Hesaid that the base was targeted from four directions and involved Taliban’s “Red Unit”, the group’s “special forces” branch.
According to the official, 10 Taliban militants were killed in counterattack.
