A female athlete was shot dead in her home in Afghanistan’s northern Sar-i-Pul province last night, security sources said Monday.
Nooria Tabish, captain of Sar-i-Pul handball team named Peace Bringers, was shot dead by her ex-husband, sources in the province said.
The wife of her brother was also killed in the shooting, according to sources.
Afghanistan Handball Federation in a statement confirmed death of the athlete, but didn’t provide further details.
