NATO is focused on supporting the peace process in Afghanistan, chief of the alliance has said.
Speaking on CNN, Jens Stoltenberg said that the process is fragile and difficult, but it is the best platform to try to find a political lasting peaceful solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.
He urged all parties to negotiate in good faith to try to find a political peaceful solution.
“Taliban has to negotiate in good faith. They have to reduce violence and Taliban has to live up to their commitments, especially those related to counter-terrorism,” Stoltenberg said.
As May 1 deadline for withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan is approaching, Stoltenberg said that there is no easy decision.
He said that NATO and US will leave Afghanistan together when the time is right.
