Afghanistan will launch COVID-19 vaccination drive with India assissted vaccines next week, officials said Thursday.
Afghanistan on Sunday received 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines donated by India.
The doses will be administered to healthcare workers, security forces and media workers, Afghan acting health minister Waheed Majroh said.
He said that COVAX funds COVID-19 vaccines to reach 20% of Afghanistan’s population in the first category and the second category is also under process.
He said that the third category covering 60% of the population requires $325 million, of which only $76 million remains to be secured.
