Turkey has tripled its financial assistance for Afghan security forces to $3 million a year, officials said on Saturday.
Kabul and Ankara have recently signed agreements based on which Turkey will provide $15 million in support for Afghan security forces over the next five years, according to the Afghanistan Embassy in Turkey.
$13 million will be allocated for military equipment, while $2 million will be offered for training of members of the Afghan National Army, Interior Ministry and National Police Department.
Turkey previously provided an annual resource for these programs with approximately one million dollars. New agreements increase this amount to about three million every year for the next five years addressing the needs of ANDSF.
Kabul and Ankara signed Military-Financial Cooperation Agreement and the Implementation Protocol of Financial Assistance in Ankara on 9 December 2020.
