At least eight people were killed when an explosion hit the convoy of governor Laghman province in east Afghanistan on Monday, an official said.
Rahmatullah Yarmal was travelling from his guesthouse to office when the blast hit his convoy in Sultan Ghazi Baba Township, his spokesman Asadullah Dawlatzai told 1TV.
Yarmal escaped unhurt, but eight people were killed and 20 others were wounded in the attack, Dawlatzai said.
Those killed include four security forces and four civilians, he added.
Tariq Aryan, a spokesman for Interior Ministry, said that the blast was triggered by suicide bomb, saying it left eight people dead and 30 others wounded.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
