Afghanistan’s main public university in western Ghor province has been shut down after dozens of students tested positive for coronavirus, officials said on Monday.
Noorullah Taraki, deputy spokesman for public health ministry, said that 30 students of the university tested positive for coronavirus.
Provincial health department said 23 out of 60 samples taken from the university students were positive for coronavirus.
Afghan government reopened schools last month amid falling daily new coronavirus cases.
Afghanistan’s Public Health Ministry has registered 38,772 coronavirus cases, including 56 over the past 24 hours. A total of 1,425 deaths attributed to it have been recorded.
