Afghan intelligence agency said on Thursday it arrested one of the planners of assassination of religious scholars Muhammad Ayaz Niazi and Azizullah Mufleh.
Obaidullah, nicknamed as Akrama Madani and Khalid Irhabi, has been in-charge ofISKP for northern and northeastern provinces of Afghanistan, the National Directorate of Security said in a statement.
He had received military and intelligence training in a Haqqani network training center in North Waziristan in Pakistan between 2012-14 and then became a trainer himself there, the statement said.
Obaidullah said that ISKP leader Shahab al Muhajir had issued a fatwa to kill the two religious scholars, according to the statement.
He also confessed to his involvement in several terrorist attacks in Kabul and other major cities. He was also planning to carry out a suicide attack against a mosque in Kunduz city.
