Afghanistan’ First Vice President Amrullah Saleh survived a deadly blast targeted his convoy in capital Kabul on Wednesday.
At least 10 civilians were killed and 15 others including Saleh’s guards were wounded in the bombing which happened in Char Rahi Sabiqa Taimani area at 7:35 a.m., Interior Ministry said.
A health ministry source told 1TV that there were 39 injuries.
“I was alongside H.E FVP when our vehicle was targeted. I assure you he’s fine and everybody is fine, no martyrs from ours just yet,” Saleh’s son Ebad Saleh wrote on Twitter.
Saleh in a video message said that he was on his way to office when his convoy was hit. He said that his face suffered minor burn and his hand was lightly hurt in the attack. His hand was seen bandaged.
The official said that some of his guards were wounded and taken to hospital.
The blast comes as the Afghan government and the Taliban are expected to begin peace talks in Doha in coming days.
Taliban denied involvement in the attack.
