Floods brought by heavy rains have killed at least 100 people in Afghanistan’s central Parwan province, officials said on Wednesday.
100 more people were injured in the disaster which started in the dark.
The country’s State Ministry for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs said that500 homes were damaged.
Parwan Governor Fazluddin Ayar said that hundreds might have died and hundreds more might have been wounded. He said that thousands of homes were damaged.
Floods are a common occurrence in Afghanistan. The country has little infrastructure, such as ditches and sewers, to manage water run-off from rain or melting snow.
