Drilling of a new gas well in Yatim Taq field of northern Jowzjan province has been completed and is ready for extraction, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said on Sunday.
The new gas well, A-36, will increase Afghan Gas’s Enterprise’s production capacity to 300,000 cubic meters per day and will add around $8 million annually to the government’s revenues, the ministry said in a statement.
It is second gas well in 40 years that has been launched by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, it said.
The well is 1,600 meters deep and the gas extracted will fulfil the needs of power plants of Bayat Power and Ghazanfar Group and fertilizer and power plants in Mazar-i-Sharif city and other consumers.
The other well of the project, A-32, had been launched earlier this year.
