Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday called on the people of Panjshir and Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation, to expel Keramuddin Karim, a former chief of Afghanistan Football Federation, who is accused of abusing his position and sexually abusing female players.
“I will suspend and help prosecute any official engaged in corruption or abuse of authority,” Ghani said at Senior Officials Meeting in Kabul. “I call on the people of Panjshir and Dr. Abdullah to expel Mr. Karim from the valley or assist the security forces to enforce the law of the land.”
He said that Iconic cases, such as that of Karim and the wall at Afghanistan embassy in Washington need immediate action.
The president urged international partners, second experts and the Attorney General’s Office to jointly investigate the case of the wall and allegations against the Ministry of Health and provincial governors in the use of funds allocated for dealing with the threat of Covid-19.
There is a national outrage against corruption and a demand for accountability and sufficient capacity in the accountability, rule of law and security organizations and the active engagement of the media, the Ulama and civil society organizations has created the enabling conditions to have a comprehensive strategy to make measureable and sustained progress against corruption,” Ghani said.
