Pakistani military has fired 700 rockets into Afghanistan’s Kunar province over the past one week, Afghan officials said Monday.
Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal, the provincial governor, said that a large number of residents had been displaced due to the shelling.
Deputy Governor Gul Mohammad Bedar said that they had informed the central government and urged it to find a solution to the problem.
The provincial governor said that Afghan forces in Kunar were ready to defend their soil and people.
Kunar residents said that apart from being displaced, they lost their livestock.
Earlier, Afghan Foreign Ministry said that the recent cross-border shelling from Pakistan showcased Pakistan’s lack of commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.
