At least six people were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a military training center in Afghan capital Kabul on Tuesday, officials said.
The blast happened around 6:50a.m. near Marshal Fahim National Defense University at Qambar square, Police District 5 of the city.
Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman for Interior Ministry, said that six people were killed in the bombing, including four forces and two civilians.
He said that 13 others including eight civilians and five forces were wounded. A car bomb was also discovered in the site of the blast, he said.
The Defense Ministry in a statement confirmed death of five people including four soldiers and one civilian in the blast. It also confirmed wounding of six others including five forces and one civilian.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which follows a brief lull in the capital and amid peace talks between the United States and Taliban in Qatari capital Doha.
President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack as a “crime againt humanity.”
“The great nation of Afghanistandemands an immediate end to the violence, stopping the war, an overarching ceasefire, a dignified and sustainable peace, which are the priorities of the Afghan Government as well,” Ghani said.
EU’s special envoy on Afghanistan, Roland Kobia, tweeted: “Be it to derail peace talks or to put pressure on them, terrorist attacks are unacceptable and counterproductive. They lose Afghan hearts and minds. The killing of civilians should stop, on both sides. You want to be heard? Do politics, not butchery.”
