Dermalog, the Germany company that provided biometric biometric machines for Afghan election, has so far detected 47,000 QR codes that could be discarded, Afghan election officials said on Thursday.
The codes involve duplicate photos, photos captured from photo and underage photos, Maulana Abdullah, a member of the Independent Election Commission, told a press conference.
He said that data on duplicate fingerprints and QR codes printed outside the voting time had been expected to be delivered by the end of the day.
Dermalog had been expected to deliver its report on filtering of its data on Saturday. Abdullah said that the commission would inquire the company over the issue following the announcement of results.
Between 1.7 and 1.9 million votes were cast using biometric verification machines during the election day, according to IEC.
Preliminary results from the votes were originally scheduled to be announced on October 19, but the IEC postponed them till November 14.
