Afghan presidential candidate Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said on Sunday that an interim government must be formed before holding any future election in the country.
Hekmatyar, who was addressing reporters in Kabul, claimed that as many as one million fraudulent votes were cast in favour of incumbent President Ashraf Ghani.
He also said that postponement of preliminary results indefinitely was unacceptable as it would pave way for fraud and engineering of the results.
According to Hekmtayar, any future election in Afghanistan, whether holding a fresh election or a runoff, must be held under supervision of an impartial interim government.
Hekmatyar also criticized Germany’s Dermalog Identification System and accused the company of committing fraud.
The candidate demanded establishment of a special court to address the cases of electoral crimes.
Hekmatyar vowed to defend “people’s rights” and repeated his threat to resort to non-peaceful means over the election.
