A 50-year-old man has allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in Afghanistan’s northern Samangarn province, police said on Thursday.
The culprit was identified as Mullah Hayatullah, a resident of Gul Qeshlaq of Aibak district.
Abdul Munir Rahimi, a spokesman for provincial police, said that the culprit fled after the act.
He said that police had launched efforts to arrest the culprit.
The incident was reported to police by the victim’s father and police referred the victim to the provincial hospital for its comment.
A cell phone, a SIM card and a hat allegedly belonging to the culprit were handed over to police.
