Gunmen shot dead a school principal in Afghan capital Kabul before dawn on Monday, authorities said.
Syed Ziauddin Zia, principal of Ghafoor Nadim High School in Hesa 2 Khair Khana, was killed in front of the school around 4:00a.m., Nooria Nazhat, a spokesman for Education Ministry said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack or what was the motive.
Nazhatsaid that security institutions had launched an investigation over the incident.
Zia had worked as principal for four schools including Ghulam Haidar Khan, Ibn Sina and Syed Noor Mohamma Shah Meena and Ghafoor Nadim for nine years, Nazhat said.
