An Afghan district governor was killed in Kabul city on Saturday evening, officials confirmed.
Raz Mohammad Waziri, governor of Jaghatu district in central Maidan Wardak province, was killed in Police District 6 of the city, provincial governor’s office said in a statement.
He was visiting the capital to attend a 10-day workshop for district governors, the statement said.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the official was gunned down in Kote Sangi area.
Separately, an Iman was killed in northern Balkh province on Saturday.
Hayatuddin Sahibi was killed by gunmen on motorcycle, provincial police said.
