Afghanistan’s Acting Interior Minister Massoud Andarabi was summoned to appear before parliament on Friday night after police stopped vehicles of two lawmakers for a search.
Police stopped vehicles of MPs Narender Singh Khalsa and Maryam Suleiman Kheil in Police District 9 of the city last night for a search but they resisted the move.
The MPs’ colleagues arrived at the site to back them and 70 MPs including a member of administrative board held a special meeting at the parliament shortly.
Acting Interior Minister Andarabi and police officials were summoned to the assembly.
The meeting lasted for four hours and half with MPs calling for dismissal and prosecution of deputy interior minister.
They also called on the acting minister to apologize over the incident.
Saturday’s session was held behind closed doors with some MPs criticizing it as a private meeting.
