A number of Afghans gathered outside Iran Embassy in Kabul after a video went viral on social media purportedly showing an Afghan refugee being tortured in the neighbouring country.
The victim in the video is apparently 16-year-old. It is said that the incident happened in a village in Iran’s Qeshm Island.
Calling the torture inhuman and un-Islamic, Afghan protesters urged Iran to punish perpetrators.
It was the latest in a series of videos that show mistreatment of Afghan refugees in Iran.
Protesters urged Tehran to change its attitude toward Afghan refugees.
Feroz Zahidi, a protester, said that did not have good time during his three years of stay in Iran.
He said that beating of the youth was one among hundreds of such incidents with perpetrators involving Iranian officials.
Earlier, Iranian Embassy in Kabul said that the incident would be investigated. The perpetrators are said to be arrested.
