Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said on Saturday that the new president will take oath of office in next three weeks.
This comes as the country’s Independent Election Commission has said that final results from the poll would be announced on November 7, which is just over a month from now.
“Three weeks later, the new president of Afghanistan will take oath based on free votes of people,” Ghani said addressing a ceremony in presidential palace on distribution of 1,000 apartments to Afghan forces. “The announcement (of results) is the duty of the Independent Election Commission and then Electoral Complaints Commission.”
“I will be at your service for next three weeks,” said Ghani who is running for a second term. “We are absolutely obedient to law and law-abiding is key to ensuring stability, welfare, security and peace.”
