Afghan presidential candidate Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday accused President Ashraf Ghani of misusing state resources in his election campaign.
Addressing his supporters on the outskirts of Kabul, Abdullah, who is chief executive of the National Unity Government, said that Ghani’s decrees which are for campaign in nature cannot be executed.
The comments come as earlier, Abdullah issued an order to stop execution of the president’s order to assess Foreign Ministry’s performances.
The presidential palace in a statement, however, rejected Abdullah’s allegations of misuse of state resources.
The statement said that while Ghani is a candidate, he is also incumbent president who can use his authorities in executive, judicial and legislative branches.
The statement urged the candidates to respect the Constitution and don’t prevent implementation of government orders.
