Palestine on Saturday recalled its ambassador to Pakistan after he attended a rally alongside Hafiz Saeed, who is accused by the United States and India of masterminding a bloody 2008 assault in Mumbai.
On Friday, Palestine’s Walid Abu Ali shared the stage with Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Jamaatud Dawa, at a demonstration in Rawalpindi to object U.S. President Donal’d Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital.
Indian Foreign Ministry in a statement reacted over the incident saying it was ‘unacceptable’.
Palestine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in a statement said that Palestine highly appreciates India’s support in its tireless efforts to end Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine and praised it for voting against U.S. decision at the U.N. General Assembly.
It called its envoy’s participation in the Hafiz Saeed rally in Pakistan “an unintended mistake, but not justified.”
