Afghan parliament on Wednesday rejected mid-term budget proposal, citing imbalance, allocation to newly-established institutions and lack of financial resources to fund the upcoming presidential election.
This comes as earlier, the Afghan president had urged MPs to postpone their summer recession until the finalization of the mid-term budget.
It is not clear if the budget would be finalized before MPs go into recession.
Zahid Hamdard, deputy minister of finance, said that the election budget would be funded from the previous allocation for government institutions, which they failed to implement.
He called on MPs to approve the proposal. Meanwhile, authorities have launched electronic declaration system.
Finance Ministry said that henceforth, all tax fines will be paid electronically.
It also said that the process of paying tax would be reduced from 12 stages to five stages.
