Afghan presidential palace on Saturday stressed holding presidential election on September 28 after US President Donald Trump cancelled peace talks with the Taliban.
In a statement, President Ghani’s office said that the peace process was suspended due to Taliban’s ongoing violence.
It said that real peace will come when the Taliban stop killing Afghans, and accept ceasefire and negotiating with the Afghan government.
The statement praised Afghanistan’s allies’ efforts in peace process, adding the Afghan government would work together with US and other allies in bringing dignified and sustainable peace.
The statement emphasized on holding presidential election on September 28 for formation of a strong and legitimate government so that it could advance peace process carefully.
