Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will visit Tajikistan at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, Ghani’s office said on Monday.
Ghani and Rahmon held phone talks on August 21, discussing cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, energy, roads and transport, science and education, information and culture, according to a statement from Rahmon’s office.
Ghani said that the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border will turn into a point of friendship and development and will be a symbol of friendship and good cooperation between the two neighbors, Ghani’s office said.
Ghani accepted Rahmon’s invitation to visit Tajikistan and invited him to visit Afghanistan.
An Afghan delegation led by Acting Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar will visit Tajikistan in coming days to work on the agenda of meeting between the two leaders.
Both sides agreed that delegations of the two countries should discuss political issues between the two countries, economy, security and fight against terrorism and drug.
