At least 13 members of people’s uprising force were killed as Taliban militants attacked their checkpoints in northern Takhar province early on Thursday, an official said.
Mohammad Javad Hijri, a spokesman for provincial governor, told 1TV that four more uprising forces were wounded in the attack which began at 12:00a.m. and ended at 2:30a.m. in Khwaja Bahauddin district.
He said that the militants used lasers in their attack and that the forces killed were loyal to commander Tatar.
The official said that reinforcement from border forces and from the district police headquarter were dispatched to the area to repel the attack.
A security source told 1TV that one member of border force were killed and two others were wounded in the clash with the attackers.
