At least seven people were killed after a car bomb and gun attack targeted a security forces base in Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni province on Saturday evening, officials said.
Sixteen more were wounded in the attack which targeted public protection forces base around 8:00 p.m. in Rawza Kotal area of the provincial capital, also Ghazni, Wahidullah Juma, a spokesman for provincial governor, told 1TV.
He said that the militants tried to enter the compound after the car bombing, but they were stopped and eliminated by police.
The attack came on the second of a grand assembly in Kabul, known as Loya Jirga, to decide over the fate of 400 Taliban prisoners the group is demanding before intra-Afghan talks.
The assemblyis expected to approvetheir release.
