At least 3,451 healthcare workers are believed to have been infected with COVID-19 in Afghanistan, authorities said on Thursday.
The disease has killed 56 healthcare staff in the country, according to the Public Health Ministry.
Minister Ahmad Javad Osmani said that the country is still suffering from coronavirus crisis and urged people to wear masks and observe other health advices.
He also warned that people should not repeat the mistake of the past Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
Abdul Karim Munib, the acting minister of Haj and religious affairs, also urged people to maintain social distance while offering Eid prayers.
More than 35,000 cases of coronavirus have been registered by Afghanistan’s Public Health Ministry. There have been 1,211 recorded deaths from the disease.
