As many as two million people have caught coronavirus in Kabul, according to findings of a study released Sunday.
Mohammad Yaqub Haidari, the governor of Kabul, said that the survey was conducted with cooperation of religious clerics, local elders and those in-charge of cemeteries.
This comes the country’s public health ministry has confirmed around 35,000 coronavirus cases and over 1,680 deaths attributed to it.
The country has seen drop in number of daily infection cases, but death rate has increased.
Official figures show that 3.3 percent of coronavirus patients have died, a one percent increase over the past two weeks, which saw 340 deaths.
Akmal Samsor, a spokesman for Public Health Ministry, said that the reason behind the increase in death rate was removal of ventilators from patients who had them for over two months.
