Afghan government said on Monday 291 security forces were killed by the Taliban in the past one week.
550 more forces were wounded during the period, the National Security Council said.
It was the deadliest week in 19 years, Javid Faisal, a spokesman for NSC, said on Twitter.
The Taliban carried out 422 attacks in 32 provinces during the week, he said.
This comes as the Afghan government and the Taliban are expected to launch peace talks this month in Qatar.
“Taliban’s commitment to reduce violence is meaningless, and their actions inconsistent with their rhetoric on peace,” Faisal said.
