Afghan forces killed at least 136 Taliban militants in four days since they resumed offensive operations against the group.
They were killed in Kunar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Faryab, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Uruzgan, Herat, Badghis and Helmand provinces.
Sixty-five more militants were injured during the period.
Fawad Aman, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, said that the operations against the Taliban will continue in an extensive manner.
He said that some Pakistani fighters were also among those killed in the operations.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Afghan President Ashraf Ghani ordered the military to switch to an “offensive mode” against the Taliban after dozens of people, including newborn babies and mothers, were killed in two separate attacks targeting hospital and funeral in Kabul and Nangarhar provinces.
The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the funeral attack while the US said it was also responsible for the hospital attack.
Javid Faisal, a spokesman for National Security Council, said on Saturday that the US should provide evidence that the attack was carried out by IS.
