An Afghan delegation will investigate claims that Iranian guards threw a group of migrants crossing the border into river, an official told 1TV on Saturday.
Preliminary reports suggest the migrants were thrown into river after crossing the border from Gulran district of Herat province.
Jelani Farhad, a spokesman for Herat governor, told 1TV that they had received the claims about “Iranian individuals” throwing Afghan nationals into river and were investigating the issue.
He said that three bodies had been transferred to Herat hospital.
Meanwhile, Acting Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar appointed a delegation led by his deputy for political affairs to thoroughly investigate the incident so that necessary decisions would be taken in the light of existing facts, his spokesman Gran Hewad said.
