Afghanistan’s Senate referred Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz and presidential adviser Waheed Omer to the Attorney General’s Office on Thursday.
The decision came after the officials refused to attend hearing at the Senate.
Some senators said that they had asked the officials two times to attend the Senate for answering questions.
They said that they had received complaints from people and medical community over the manner of fight against coronavirus, health service delivery and over spending budget for public awareness.
Afghanistan’s Integrity Watch also expressed concern over lack of information on government spending in the fight against coronavirus.
The Attorney General’s Office has not made any comment on the Senate request. Minister Feroz reacted on Facebook criticizing the senators for gathering despite the coronavirus threat, which he said was an unforgivable crime.
Omer said that he was told by Feroz that going to the Senate would be against health advices they themselves had released.
