Nine members of people’s uprising force were killed in overnight Taliban attacks in northern Samangan province, officials said Wednesday.
The insurgents launched their attacks in Dar-i-Suf district around 11:40p.m. triggering clashes which ended at 4:00a.m., said Sediq Azizi, a spokesman for provincial governor.
Nine members of people’s uprising force were killed while seven others were injured in the clashes, he said.
Provincial council chief, Raz Mohammad, said that militants targeted the forces’ posts.
Munir Ahmad, a spokesman for provincial police, said that Taliban also suffered casualties in the clashes.
