Police chief of Jaghori district in Ghazni province has been dismissed and his two guards were arrested after the guards were accused of raping two women, officials said on Monday.
It came as dozens of residents gathered outside the administrative headquarters of the district demanding punishment for the culprits and dismissal of local officials.
Tariq Aryan, a spokesman for Interior Ministry, said that police chief of the district and its head of crime unit were dismissed and called to the center for investigation.
He said that the accused guards were arrested and were being investigated.
The official said that a delegation was dispatched to the district over the issue.
