Kabul’s coronavirus cases have risen to 385, the health ministry said on Tuesday, overtaking western Herat for the first time to register the highest total in an Afghan province.
An increase of 66 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours pushed Afghanistan’s confirmed tally to 1,092. Kabul saw 52 new cases.
No deaths were reported during the period. The country’s death toll remains at 36.
A total of 150 people have recovered from coronavirus so far.
A total of 6,676 tests have been carried out so far in the country.
Herat has registered 334 cases and no other province in Afghanistan has three digits.
Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani’s spokesman said on Tuesday that the president’s coronavirus test came back as negative.
First Lady Rula Ghani also tested negative, according to Sediq Sediqi.The tests came as at least 20 in the presidential palace were reported to have been infected with coronavirus.
