Nearly 40 people have died from the coronavirus in Surobi district of Kabul over the past two weeks, a government source told 1TV on Sunday.
This comes as the Public Health Ministry has confirmed 31 deaths from the virus in Afghanistan.
The ministry announced one death from coronavirus in Surobi district in recent days.
On Saturday, Public Health Minister Ferozuddin Feroz said that other deaths in the district could have been caused by other diseases.
The source in the office of first vice president also told 1TV that the number of coronavirus testing laboratories would be increased from seven to 15 within the next two weeks.
Directorates of coronavirus combat will also be established in every province, according to the source.
