The Taliban said it will release 20 Afghan government prisoners today (Sunday).
Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for Taliban’s political office in Qatar, said on Twitter that they will be handed over to Red Cross in southern Kandahar province.
The announcement comes as Afghan government has released 300 Taliban prisoners over the past three days.
Under the US-Taliban deal, up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners and 1,000 held by the group were stipulated to be released by March 10, when intra-Afghan talks were expected to begin.
