Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has chosen Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal to become finance minister.
A former minister of economy under Hamid Karzai, Arghandiwal will act as caretaker of finance ministry before his confirmation by the parliament.
This is first nomination for a minister post after inauguration of Ghani’s second term three weeks ago.
Waheed Omer, a presidential adviser, said that the process of naming the cabinet was underway and the nominees will be introduced to the parliament once it is completed.
On Monday, President Ghani appointed Mohammad Shakir Kargar as his chief of staff.
