At least 25 people were killed in an attack on Sikh temple in Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday, officials said.
The attack happened as a gunman entered the temple around 7:45a.m. in Shor Bazaar area which is in the center of the city.
Eight others were wounded in the assault which ended as the gunman was killed by Afghan special police units, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry.
Sikh MP Narender Singh Khalsa told 1TV nearly 150 people in the temple when the attack happened.
The Interior Ministry said that police rescued 80 people including men, women and children from the site of the attack.
The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack while the Taliban denied involvement.
