Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in a decree has removed the post of chief executive.
According to the decree, authorities cannot receive and process letters sent under the title of office of chief executive.
The president ordered the Independent Commission of Administrative Reform and Civil Service to facilitate recruitment employees of CEO office and secretariat of ministerial council in other institutions.
The decree also includes end of protection for CEO’s officials. VIP protection directorate been asked to assess physical security of former CE Abdullah within three days.
Finance Ministry has been ordered to register and shift all the transferrable properties of the office of chief executive and secretariat of ministerial council to the Administrative Office of the President.
Ghani took oath of office for second term on Monday. His election rival Abdullah who proclaimed himself as winner of the vote also held a parallel inauguration.
Ghani’s spokesman told reporters on Wednesday that their government had both national and international legitimacy.
He said that Ghani delayed cabinet formation to allow talks with politicians. “This time it will be a political cabinet,” he said.
