Afghan security forces have seized 10 tonnes of explosives from Pakistan, officials said Tuesday.
The discovery was made during a raid in Torkham township in Nangarhar province, which is close to Pakistan crossing, local officials said.
Two people were arrested in connection with smuggling of the explosives.
Nazar Ali Wahidi, provincial head of intelligence agency, said that militants had planned to use the explosives in Nangarhar and Kabul.
He said that the explosives included ammonium nitrate, sodium carbonate and other chemicals.
One of the two arrested said that the explosives had been loaded onto the truck in Pakistan’s Haji Camp and Abdullah station.
He said that they would unload half of the explosives in Nangarhar and shift the remaining to Kabul.
